EDUCATION AND CAREER GUIDANCE

Area of Focus

The Education and Career Guidance Committee (ECG) in Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School is guided by the ECG Developmental Model recommended by MOE.

Objective :

• Equipment students with necessary Knowledge, Skills and Values to make decisions at key education stages.

• Prepare students for a lifetime of careers instead of a career-for-life.

Programmes

1. Aspiration Room @ Library

KCPSS is supported by an ECG Counselor . Regular ECG related clinics are conducted by the trained ECG counselor to meet the student’s needs.

2. Learning journey to Polytechnic Open House in January

Graduating students will have the opportunity to visit the polytechnics during the January open house to experience polytechnic life as well have an understanding of the various courses offered. Through this visit, it is hoped that students will be able to make informed decisions with regards to their post secondary education choices.

3. Applied Studies Experience (ASE) @ Ngee Ann Polytechnic

As part of enhanced Education and Career Guidance (ECG) efforts to support students in making considered decisions about their education and career plans and take positive steps to embark on them, interested students will be given the opportunity to attend the ASE at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

The Applied Studies Experience” allows students to explore and pursue their interests through engaging course activities and authentic hands-on experiences.

4. Talks

Teachers

Our ECG Counsellor is stationed at the school once a week to provide support to students (individually or in small groups) to help them make informed decisions on post-secondary education and career options.

Students who would like to explore more about subject choices, inquire about post-secondary education options or find out more about their career interests, strengths and passions, can have a chat with our school’s ECG Counsellor.
